Rug Care & Maintenance Guide
Vacuuming:
It is completely normal for new rugs to shed some loose fibres initially. This occurs when excess fibres from the spinning process work their way to the surface. After a few rounds of vacuuming, the shedding will gradually reduce and eventually stop.
Regular vacuuming helps maintain the appearance of your rug and prevents surface dirt from becoming embedded in the fibres, which can make cleaning more difficult over time. We recommend using a suction-only vacuum cleaner without a rotating brush to avoid damaging the rug’s pile. To ensure even wear and prevent uneven fading—especially in areas exposed to natural sunlight—it is also advisable to rotate your rug periodically.
Spills & Stains:
To avoid permanent staining, it is important to address spills as quickly as possible. Follow these steps for effective stain removal:
-
Blot the spill immediately using a clean white cloth or paper towel.
Note: Never rub the stain, as this can spread the liquid and push it deeper into the fibres. -
Apply an appropriate carpet cleaner with a clean cloth, working gently from the outer edge of the stain toward the centre.
-
Blot the area again with a paper towel to absorb excess moisture, then allow the rug to air dry.
-
Vacuum the rug once the area is completely dry.
If the stain remains visible, repeat the process until it is fully removed. Should the stain persist after multiple attempts, we recommend contacting a professional carpet or rug cleaning service for specialist treatment.
